Finding ideas...........

My post on Monday, 7-17, was about IDEAS and how we get them for the projects that we make.  I asked for you to email me and let me know what you did to get the ideas you use.  I got two emails ~ thank you ladies!  The first one is from Margaret Spencer ~

Good Morning  ~ Do you really get stuck for ideas?

When I scroll thru Facebook I will 'save' posts that include interesting cards into my file 'try this from SU.' That helps me. I know the cards are created with our great products and I  know the demonstrators are talented.

That's what I do!

I am anxious to read other ideas ...

And the second one is from Diane Voskuhl ~

Hi Susan Elise,

When I get in a slump, I take out about an inch stack of printed paper, spread that on my work space ( dining room table ) find matching solids, match them up.

I take out my old standby file ( zip lock bag )  and start cutting shapes and sizes.  I am making " kits ". Stack them in a holder, worry about the embellishments later.  Then as I sort them the next day, it all comes to me. And then it flows as it goes.

Some days I make so many kits, it takes me the week to plan and finish them with cut outs, ribbons, jewels etc. By the end of the week I can have 30 plus cards made.

Anyone else have some ideas that you would like to share ~ I'd love to hear from YOU!  And, there is a DRAWING of those who participated in this IDEA SHARE.  EMAIL me your ideas by Friday, July 28, to be in the drawing!  Thanks, Susan Elise

Christmas in July Class is today!

My first CHRISTMAS IN JULY class is this morning at 10 AM.  Here are the cards that we will be making.  There are 11 stamping friends coming so it is going to be a very busy morning!  I hope they remember their SNAIL, their Real Red marker and their Lemon Lime Twist marker.  They are going to be doing some coloring on the At Home card (the one with the red door)!  This is the first class in a series of four.  When they finish (October) each of them will have 24 lovely handmade cards to send to friends in December!  That's a very good feeling!  Susan Elise

JULY Three cards

Watercolor Wash technique

This technique is so quick and easy and I know you have tried it.  When I saw the video I had to try it again myself.  I didn't have the THANKS stamp so I used another stamp and it turned out a little different.

I couldn't go back into the center of the letters since the embossing was solid on the letters and resisted additional color.  This is a Note Card, a great size for a 'little' note to a friend.  They come in Whisper White and Very Vanilla and you can find them on page 195 in the catalog.  20 cards and envelopes for just $6.00 ~ they are Janie's favorite, right Jane?  Thanks for stopping by ~ Happy Friday!   Watercolor Wash Technique

Crafting Forever

Pens embossed & colored

One of my favorite stamp sets in the new Stampin' Up! catalog is this one, CRAFTING FOREVER, which is probably not a big surprise to anyone.  The advice 'Do Something Creative Every Day' would be enough to sell me the stamp set.  I try very hard to follow that advice when I walk in the studio every morning.  Do you ever have days when 'being creative' seems hard to do?  I do.  Even with all of the creative samples around me I get stuck.  How do you get over that feeling?  (Really ~ email me and tell me how you do it!  I would love to know!)  I do a couple of things ~ get out my catalog and CASE (COPY AND SHARE EVERYTHING),  look carefully at the cards on my boards,  find inspiration in tea towels (they are amazing) and start working by seeing what has been 'left over' on my work space.  Seems to work for me but do let me know what works for you ~ EMAIL ME ~ I will choose a name from my little basket of those of you who email me and I have a new stamp set for you ~ free!

Another hot day...........

Margarita Friday

Lime summer drink card

Happy Friday Afternoon!  Thought this card might be appropriate after a busy week.  So cool and refreshing.  I think the key might be the use of one of our NEW in colors for this year ~ LEMON LIME TWIST.  Print out the directions for the card, below, and enjoy an afternoon of crafting and treat yourself to a margarita this evening!  (You know it would also make a fabulous glass of LEMONADE!)  Also, if you need any of the supplies, just click on the pictures to go directly to my online store!  Happy Friday!  Susan Elise
