Strength and Hope Sample

Stampin' Up!'s Strength and Hope Campaign (supporting breast cancer research) will continue until August 31.   I wanted to share a few samples created by fellow demonstrators to show you what a wonderful set this is and what beautiful cards you can create.....

Please add my upcoming event, my Bobie Party in support of the Tidewater Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, on Saturday afternoon, July 23, to your calendar.  We will be creating cards with the set, Strength & Hope, and making 'bobbie' cards for you to send to friends to remind them to schedule their mammogram.  If you have all ready purchased the Strength and Hope stamp set and would like to share your samples, I would LOVE to showcase them on my blog.

3 Days Left....

Yes, three days left for the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog.  It is rather like waiting for the new year.  New Year's Eve is Thursday, June 30, and New Year's Day is Friday, July 1.  Can't you just see the old catalog with a beard ~ all tired with pages rumpled ~ and the brand new catalog wrapped in a baby blanket and tied with ribbons?

How silly!  But, I wanted to give you a reminder if there is anything that you still wanted from the present catalog, please let me know or place an online order for yourself.  Check out the LISTS on my sidebar or give me a call so that I can help you with your order.  Once these products are gone ~ they are gone!

If you want a new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog join me on Friday afternoon (New Year's Day), July 1,  from 3 to 8 PM or Saturday, July 2, from Noon to 5 PM.  Those are the times of my *NEW CATALOG KICK-OFF EVENT! *  Cost of the event is $10 and that includes 4 Make & Takes featuring ALL new products and colors!  I must know you are coming (and you do want my little gift to you!) so RSVP by email or phone (587-1548).    You can shop in my store for retired products.  Susan Elise, your stamp teacher

Parks and Peacocks

Victoria Peacock 2

Victoria Peacock

Our pedi-cab driver took us to Beacon Hill Park which was just beautiful!  And, there is a special area reserved for peacocks who run freely all over the park.  Our driver feed them some kind of grain out of his hand!  I love the colors!!!

Victoria Park w ducks 2
And, you can feed the ducks too!  Did I mention that it was a very cool evening ~ by the time we got back to the ship we were piled high with blankets!  It was a lovely ride!  Tomorrow ~ samples from the boards!

Victoria, BC

Victoria Empress Hotel

Our cruise ship stopped in Victoria for 6 hours on the last night of our cruise.  I would have loved to have had TEA AT THE EMPRESS HOTEL but we didn't (I guess we will have to go back!).  The hotel was built at the turn of the century and opened in 1908.  It has 477 rooms and 4 restaurants and, of course, is THE place to visit!  However, Alan and I took a pedi 'rickshaw' from the ship all around the town!  Amazing ~ one guy riding his bike and pulling us.  He is working his way through school and doesn't want to go into debt so sometimes he takes 3 or 4 'tours' a day.  We were well informed about Victoria when we got back to the ship!

Victoria Monkey Tree

This is a Monkey Puzzle Tree and our guide said it was considered a sign of wealth as it was brought in to the area during the gold mining era and was very expensive.  It is a very large tree and very strange looking!  I thought the branches did look like very long monkey tails!

Victoria home 1

Victoria Home 2

Victoria Home w wood fence

Aren't the homes darling?  Tomorrow ~ Parks and Peacocks!  Thanks for stopping by!  se

A Good Egg

A GOOD EGG

Well, you probably think I have lost my mind.  After all, this week is the first week of summer and I am reverting to the Easter Holidays!

But, this stamp set, A Good Egg, is on the Last Chance List and there are only 7 more days for you to purchase any of the stamp sets on that list!

My last class using the stamps on the list, GOODBYE STAMP-A-STACK CLASS, will be this Saturday morning at ten ~ join me for some stamping fun!  CALL ME NOW ~ 587-1548!

All Aboard!

White Pass Yukon Route sign
May 24, and our ship pulled into Skagway Alaska.  We had booked an excursion on the White Pass & Yukon Route Railway.  This railway was born in the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898!  Once you travel on it you can't help but be absolutely amazed how it was ever built in the first place!  The White Pass & Yukon Route climbs from sea level in Skagway to almost 3,000 feet at the Summit in just 20 miles and features steep grades all the way.  Tight curves around the mountains called for a narrow gauge railroad.  The rails are three feet apart on a 10 foot wide road bed!  There are two tunnels and numerous bridges and trestles!  Work on one of the tunnels took place in the dead of winter with heavy snow and temperatures as low as 60 below!
