More Poppies

Poppies

This card uses a technique called 'spotlighting' which is very effective with this stamp set ~ Pleasant Poppies.  You can find the set on page 129 in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog.

This gorgeous card uses First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper as the background.  This light-weight paper comes 24 sheets to a package of double sided designs.  It is acid and lignin-free so it would be super to create backgrounds for your scrapbook pages.  And, of course, to layer on cards, do papier-mache or wrap small gifts ~ #121878, $12.95, on page 162 in the catalog.

I used an Aquapainter (#103954, page 178) to color in the pretty poppies.  I picked up the color with the Aquapainter from the lid of the stamp pads.  It is a very easy way to watercolor, just squeeze the top of the stamp case to the pad and  make your own palette!  Happy Friday!

So sorry...

So sorry, but I have had to cancel my Open House and BOGO event scheduled for tomorrow and Saturday.  I will reschedule to the first Friday and Saturday in August.  Please add it to your schedule.  Susan Elise

Large Scallop Edgelits
Large Scallop Edgelit (upside down, sorry!), #127019, page 190 in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog.  This actually shows you a 'template' of the design that is cut using the tool.  The edgelit tool is a thin strip of metal shaped in this scallop design.  It cuts because one edge of the scallop is sharp.  Because it is such a thin piece of metal it has a tendency to slip when it is run through the Big Shot.  To prevent it from moving, place it on your card stock and 'anchor' it with two small sticky notes, glue side down, one on each end of the edgelit.  This will keep the edgelit from changing position and messing up your pretty card!  Susan Elise, your stamp teacher

Set of 6, page 87 in the Stampin' Up! annual catalog

This was a popular stamp set at my June Stamp-a-Stack yesterday.  I love it and also used it for my June selection for my Stamp Set of the Month Club.

Flower 1

This is the card we made yesterday in class.  One of my favorite parts of this card is the additional use of a new edgelit ~ Large Scallop Edgelits, #127019, $7.95 ~ which cut the Whisper White card stock edge.

Large Scallop Edgelits
And, in additiion, an embossing folder that is designed to coordinate with the Large Scallop Edgelit ~ the Delicate Designs Folders, #127023, $8.95 ~

Delicate Designs Folders

Isn't Stampin' Up! fabulous?!!!!  They make it so easy for US to be CREATIVE!  More samples tomorrow (and a hint on how to use the edgelit!).  Have a lovely Sunday.  I am on my way to Carmen's home to do a party for her and her friends this afternoon ~ crafting fun for all of us!

I added the rhinestones to the peacock's tail feathers and they give the card a lot of SPARKLE.  You can find this set on page 98 in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog.  The saying in this set is particularly nice ~ "One who finds a faithful friend finds a treasure."  Have a lovely Saturday!

Talented Team Members ~

Kim's card

I thought I would show you some cards that my team members (Southern Stars) submitted to our swap last Saturday.  They are so talented.  The card above was created by Kim Munden.

Wendy's Card

This is Wendy Osborn's card.

Sympathy Card

I think this is Dawn's card.  We don't add our names to the cards so I may have this wrong.  We have a creative card contest at all of our meetings.  Linda Burgess was the winner at our meeting with this card ~

Linda's Card

You can't see the texture or the sparkles in the picture.  She added Dazzling Diamonds to the flower (Betsy's Blossoms, #126006, page 72 in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog) and it is so pretty.  Have a creative Thursday!  Thanks for stopping by!  Susan Elise

Quick and Easy

I have a feeling that the furthest thing from your mind right now is the upcoming, 6 months away, holidays!  But, as they always do, they will sneak up on us, right?  So I made a Christmas card using the same set that I posted about yesterday ~ EMBELLISHED EVENTS.  And, it is such an easy card that you might want to file it away for later this year ~ when we all need really good, and quick, ideas for our cards.

Embellished Events ~ Santa
