Balloon Celebration

I am celebrating some new stampers in the CAT/ART STUDIO this afternoon thanks to Sue Blaski who invited her friends for an afternoon in the Studio.  I love, love, love to see the smile on someone's face when they make their first card ~ by themselves ~ what a treasure.  Here is a picture of Jennifer and she is showing off her very first card using the cute chick from the HONEYCOMB HAPPINESS FREE stamp set from SALE-A-BRATION!

And, here is a picture of Sue and her enthusiastic daughter, Hannah, working on their cards.

And, this is Susie another brand new stamper working on her card using the BALLOON CELEBRATION stamp set from the OCCASIONS CATALOG.  She did great as a newbie!!!  I feel bad not to be able to show pictures of my other guests ~ I was taking pictures into the sun and, obviously, it didn't work!  Sorry!

This is the card Susie is working on ~

I will provide details on the card tomorrow.  Right here.  Thanks for stopping by, Susan Elise

Rose Wonder Plus............

Rose Wonder watercolor

I made this card using the same bundle on page 18 in the Occasions Catalog.  This time I used the thinlit on Watercolor Paper.  Once it is cut out I used my Aqua Painter on the cut out shape with Garden Green and Rose Red to add the color.  It is a nice way to add the color because it is easy to shade from light to dark ~ the color pigment spreads with the water.  When the design was dry I added Clear Wink of Stella to the rose.  I attached the design to a folded Whisper White base card using the Fine Tip Glue Pen.

The products I used are below.  When you see the product list diagrammed like this you can click on the picture and go directly to my online store to order.  Those pictures are always 'connected'.  The HOSTESS CODE for JANUARY is AK2HZ4BQ ~ please use it when you place your online order to receive a handmade card in your mailbox at the end of the month.  Thanks for stopping by!

Rose Wonder

Rose Wonder is a very large (14 photopolymer stamps) set on page 18 in the Occasions Catalog.  You can find it on page 18.  The main image is that of a rose and pretty leaves but the main attraction is all of the verses, sayings, greetings that coordinate with the stamps.  It is also a BUNDLE and the bundle includes as set of 5 thinlits dies matching the stamped images.  This is a card I made last night to show you one way to use this bundle.

Salt Technique

Beautiful Ride January

SALT TECHNIQUE?  Sounds like 'Cooking with Susan Elise' on the Food Channel (Alan's favorite!).  You may not have this cute stamp set, Beautiful Ride, but you can use this technique with any of your sets.  As long as you have watercolor paper.  The attached PDF will give you the details but, basically, you spritz an inked clear block with water and stamp it onto watercolor paper and hold it for 5 seconds.  Then remove the block and sprinkle salt onto the paper.  Dry with a heat tool and brush off the salt.  Your background is created ~ no two are alike!  Here are the directions for this card.  If you try the technique, EMAIL ME a picture so I can post it on the blog!  Have fun!

Bloomin' Love framed

Framed heart

This would be a very difficult die to use but with the addition of this new tool in the Occasions Catalog it has gotten much easier ~ AND quicker!  Previously any one who ran a detailed die through the Big Shot had to punch out the tiny pieces one at a time using the Paper-Piercing Tool (page 168 in the annual catalog).  The Big Shot Die Brush (page 19 Occasions catty) allows you to brush out the tiny pieces quickly and easily.  I would be happy to show you how and I have some opportunities on my February calendar ~ Crafty Thursday, Get-together & Stamp or my Stamp-a-stack on the 27th.   I hope you'll stop by and stamp with me.

Bear Hugs & Weekly Deals

Bear Hugs Valentine

This morning my friend and SIL, Rosie, was here and we were talking about my love for this stamp set.  She is a big PINTEREST fan and said that she had seen the bear in our window thinlit so I knew I had to create one ~ what a great idea!!!  Then, when I saw the WEEKLY DEALS from Stampin' Up! I knew I had to share this idea with you.  Can you believe it?

First Sight in gold.........

First Sight gold Valentine

I think this is such a pretty card and the stamp set is equally lovely.  The stamp set is FIRST SIGHT and you can find it on page 36 in the Occasions Catalog.  It would be great for February 14 but would also make a lovely wedding or anniversary card.  Very versatile.  It is a simple card to make but lovely in it's simplicity ~ I used a gold encore stamp pad and let it dry without embossing but you could use the VersaMark stamp pad and Gold Embossing powder to get a similar effect.  The products are below, let me know if you have any questions ~ email me!

Botanical Blooms Video

Botanical Blooms plus DSP

After yesterday's weather I think we need a tropical approach today and here it is!!!  I made this card for my last Team Meeting swap.  This BUNDLE, on page 26 in the Occasions catalog, features THREE coordinating products rather than the usual two.  Shannon will show you a number of ways to use these products in the Stampin' Up! video below.  Pay particular attention to the way she stamps directly on the Designer Series Paper.  The stamp set is designed to be used on the paper ~ new concept for Stampin' Up!

Pick up these products from our new Occasions catalog and don't forget to take advantage of our Sale-a-Bration sale.  Get a free product from the Sale-a-Bration catalog for every $50 you spend.  Visit my online store here.  Feel free to contact me if you want more information on our Occasions catalog or if I can send you the Sale-A-Bration brochure (mine seem to have been lost in space ~ sorry!)  Susan Elise

Bear Hugs on an icy afternoon................

Bear Hugs w balloons

When I opened this Designer Series Paper, Shine On, I wondered what I would ever use it for.  I matched it up with my favorite stamp set from the Occasions Catalog, Bear Hugs, for my THIRD THURSDAY CLASS this week and really liked the results.  You can find the package of DSP on page 31 in the catty.  It is kraft paper with silver foil designs on one side.  I am going to use it to make boxes as it is very sturdy but, in the meantime, I think everyone liked the 'bear with balloons'!  I used Crystal Effects over the nose and ears and on the claws of the bear for a shiny finish.  Fun!

Norfolk Botanical Gardens closed today because of the weather and it will be closing soon, for up to six weeks, for the installation of this fabulous exhibit.  Artisans will be arriving soon from China to install this exhibit in the Gardens.  The exhibit will open on Saturday, March 5, and remain open until April 30.  It will be outside of course and will require a walk of approximately one mile on a paved surface.  My stamping friends, interested in creativity and art, will not want to miss this opportunity.  The NORFOLK BOTANICAL GARDENS WEBSITE has lots of pictures and information about the exhibit ~ check it out now as everyone will need to purchase tickets for a specific day.  I predict it will be a VERY popular destination!!!  Thanks for stopping by ~ Susan Elise
