This is my messy work space this evening as I try to quickly put together cards for Alan to take with him tomorrow.  He is leaving for a couple of days at our cottage in the Western part of Virginia.  One of our friends in the Shipman/Lovingston area is a lovely lady, Bette Grahame, who is the President of the ALMOST HOME PET ADOPTION CENTER of Nelson County.  She, and her husband, have done so much to establish this no-kill animal rescue facility in Nelson County in the last 10 years.   I always want her to have lovely handmade cards to share with her friends.  Tonight I used the stamp sets BELLA & FRIENDS and PRETTY KITTY in the new catalog to create some quick cards for Alan to deliver tomorrow.

Tax Holiday

Since August is just around the corner I thought I would alert you to Virginia's upcoming TAX HOLIDAY for school supplies.  What does that mean for you?  Stampin' Up! products that fall under that category will be tax free for a limited time!  Our Virginia Tax Holiday will begin on Friday, August 5, at midnight and end at 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 7.

Christmas in July was a success last night!

Class last night was loads of fun and I loved that everyone was so proud of starting their CHRISTMAS CARDS so early!!!  It seemed to put a smile on everyone's face!  I thought you might like to see the other three cards that we made.  I originally designed the class for 9 cards ~ three each of three designs.  The problem was that I ran out of a key ingredient for one of the cards ~ Brights Enamel Shapes in Real Red ~ so I designed a second card for that part of the class.  

This is the card with the Real Red Enamel Shapes (Page 177 in the catalog).  I just didn't have enough of them!

Here is the second card.  We used the new stamp set JOYFUL NATIVITY on page 35.  The colors are Pool Party, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate.

This card uses the new embossing folder, HOLLY, doesn't it make a pretty background?  The Designer Series Paper is THIS CHRISTMAS SPECIALTY PAPER (24 sheets ~ plenty for all of your Christmas cards and wrapping).  The stamp set we used is new this year.  It is called PEACE THIS CHRISTMAS and you can find it on page 27.  All in all, I think everyone had a good time.  I know I did!  And, I am looking forward to the next one in the CHRISTMAS IN JULY (opps!  AUGUST).  It will be on Wednesday evening, August 24, in the CAT/ART STUDIO.  Let me know if you'd like to join us.  Thanks for stopping by, Susan Elise

My first CHRISTMAS IN JULY CLASS is tonight and I can't wait to see everyone and get them started on making their cards for December!  They are going to be so excited to get a head start and not have to worry about their handmade cards for the next five months!!!  Here is one of the cards that we will be making tonight ~

IN COLOR INSPIRATION

This little stamp set, ENDLESS THANKS, is easy to overlook (ask me how I know)!  You can find it on page 42  and it includes 23 photopolymer stamps.  It is a wonderful set for a new stamper or to give as a gift.   And, we used this embossing folder in our July Stamp Clubs ~ it is so pretty and so easy to use.  You can find it on page 45 in the catalog.  It is a set of embossing folders.  Here are the directions for this card and, of course, just change the colors to easily make a set of four cards to give.

Oh Happy Day II

Melissa continued to send me pictures of her cards made from the OH HAPPY DAY CARD KIT today so I thought I would post them.  I have spent the day in the kitchen making EGGPLANT PARMESAN from scratch after buying two pretty eggplant at the FARMER'S MARKET yesterday.  It has been an interesting, and involved, process.  The title of the recipe is "Lighter, Quicker Eggplant Parmesan' ~ I definitely agree with the Lighter description but I am not sure about the 'QUICKER'.  I baked the sliced eggplant in the oven and that did make it lighter ~ just a little oil!  Dinner is at seven, can't wait to see if Mr. Alan Meaton likes it!

I thought I was going to spend the day getting ready for my CHRISTMAS IN JULY CLASS on Wednesday this week but that didn't happen ~ TOMORROW!!!!   I have a little space in class if you would like to join us!  It will be fun and just what we all need ~ to cool down!  Thanks for stopping by!  Susan Elise

Oh Happy Day!

Melissa stopped by this morning to pick up her order from her JULY STAMP CLUB.  She had ordered the OH HAPPY DAY CARD KIT (142725) on page 6 in the catalog.  Melissa said she was going home (she was walking ~ in this heat ~ several miles at a minimum!) to shower and make cards using her new kit.  The kit is fun and includes EVERYTHING that you need to make 20 colorful all occasions cards.  Later she sent me two samples of the cards she made ~ what do you think?  Lovely!

And, for those of you who have taken my class featuring the FLORAL BOUTIQUE SUITE on page 76 & 77 in the catalog ~ the NIGHT OF NAVY BAKER'S TWINE has arrived!  It has been on backorder for the last month and arrived today.  YEA!
