Cards for the USS Cole on Friday night...........

We had a studio full of stampers on Friday evening with everyone working on cards to send to the sailors on the USS Cole.  I got pictures of everyone (except Rosie as she was one of the first to leave ~ sorry about that!) to show you that productive fun was had by all ~

Barbara Schweiger

Barbara is the one who actually sends the cards and is in contact with the Chaplain on the ship.

Christina and her Mom

This is Marilyn who drives all the way from Zuni to stamp with us.  She brought her daughter, Christina, who is in the Navy and presently at the Portsmouth Navel Hospital.  Christina was definitely a nice addition to our group with her personal perspective.

Marti Jones

Marti and her beautiful smile ~ I wish those on the ship could see these happy faces!

Pam Campbell

Ann Butler ~ silly lady

I love this silly picture of Ann ~ do you think we had a good time?  Here is Ann's card ~

And, here is what I was working on ~ cards for kids ~ does anyone remember this?

Technique: Debossing

Debossed celebrate in blue w balloons

On page 40 in Stampin' Up!'s Occasions Catalog is something new ~ a stamp set and two embossing folders.  The interesting thing is that instead of EMbossing these folders DEboss!  The card above is one I made using the celebrate debossing folder ~ the word is indented, not raised.  After you run the folder through the Big Shot, then you stamp on top of the word.

In traditional letterpress printing a raised image is inked and pressed into paper.  That is one way to use our folders but there are a variety of ways to use the Celebration Duo folders and I am looking forward to exploring possibilities.  The folders coordinate with the Happy Celebrations stamp set and give us many opportunities to be creative.

Diamond Fold Card

Diamond Fold BD Card

This is a card we made yesterday in two of my STAMP CLUBS ~ one in the morning and one at 6:30 last night.  We stamped the greeting on the flip side ~

If you would like to learn some new stamping techniques I would love to have you join one of my stamp clubs (some meet during the day and several at night).  EMAIL ME NOW if you are interested.

Susan Tran was in our club that met yesterday at ten.  (Actually, she was the hostess and was able to get her BIG SHOT with the hostess benefits!)  Last night I got an email from Susan and she sent me a picture of a card she made Wednesday afternoon for her grandson's birthday.  I am so proud of her!  She used a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set, ZOOFARI ~ maybe you have it in your collection.  Let me know.  Susan Elise

Sarah's technique using refills

I know some of you wonder why I tell you that it is important to buy the refill bottle when you buy your Stampin' Up! stamp pad.  My answer has always been that you can't anticipate how juicy the stamp pad will be when it is sent out from Stampin' Up! and you may need to refresh the color immediately.  I have to admit that that doesn't happen very often.  At my TEAM MEETING on Saturday, Sarah Williams gave all of us another reason to be sure that we have our refills.  The theme of the meeting was TECHNIQUES so we will call this one SARAH'S REFILL TECHNIQUE.

On SHIMMER WHITE PAPER, Sarah placed one drop of ink from each of the refill bottles from the 2016-2017 In-Colors ~ Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  Using a credit card, she dragged the color from the top to the bottom the length of the paper.  It is an easy technique with stunning results!  Thank you Sarah!
