Stampin' Up!

IMG_8397 This is a post card that I got when I was at Stampin' Up's Headquarters several months ago.  I thought you might want to see what the building looks like.  It is in Riverton, UT ~ just outside of Salt Lake City.  Considering that Shelli and her sister started out in their living rooms thirty some years ago it is quite an accomplishment.

You can see both of these post cards on page 2 in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog.  Shelli said it best ~ 'Stampin' Up! is a wonderful way to bring creativity and friendship together.'

World Watercolor Month ~ again

I used Wink of Stella with my Watercolor Pencils to color in the bouquet above.  I hope you'll give it a try ~ it's easy peasy!

  • Stamp the image using Stazon ink.  Let dry completely.
  • Outline the flowers with the watercolor pencil.
  • Blend the watercolor using the Wink of Stella brush.
  • An alternative is to use the side of the watercolor pencil to add color directly to the Wink of Stella brush.  Clean the brush by wiping it on paper towel until it is clear.  Repeat for a darker color.

PS:  I know you can't tell by the picture but the flowers and leaves     SPARKLE because of the Wink of Stella!  Try it!

PSS:  The stamp set is AMAZING YEAR on page 28 in the annual catty.

Ivan & the dangerous shark!

IMG_4877Poor Ivan!  And, you think you've had a tough week!!!  Ivan is a grandson of a favorite stamping friend of mine, Susan Tran.  This creative lady planned a SHARK WEEK for her grandchildren!

Emboss Resist

IMG_8349

The card I posted yesterday and this card use the same stamp set, PRETTY MEDALLION, and the same technique, EMBOSS RESIST.

            1.  Stamp using Versamark on Watercolor Paper (page 140 AC).  You might   want to use your Stamparatus for perfect placement because this paper is  thick and slightly textured.  You may need to stamp twice to get good coverage.

            2.  Cover the image with White Embossing Powder (page 128 AC) and heat with your heat tool until the entire design is shiny and set.

            3.  Lightly spritz the watercolor paper with water using Stampin' Spritzers (page 129 AC).  This allows the color to flow.

            4.  Add refill ink to a small shallow bowl.  Press on the cartridge of the Water Painter (page 129 AC) so that the brush tip is wet.  Pick up the refill ink with one of the Water  Painters and quickly brush over a section of the embossed image.  I used each of the five new In Color refill colors on my card above.

            5.  The embossed design resists the color allowing the medallion to show.  I  fussy cut the medallion and added it to the Starry Sky base card.  Remember when you fussy cut to move the paper not your scissors, it is easier that way.  Want more tips on watercoloring?  Come by The Cat/Art Studio Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 6 ~ email me to let me know you will be coming please.
