Masking Technique w Masking Paper

Bottled Happiness

I know that you have used this technique before ~ successfully I am sure.  But, I wanted to be sure that you knew about MASKING PAPER in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog.  You can find it on page 151 (order number 155480, 12 adhesive-backed sheets for $7).  The masking paper is easy to use and will not shift while you are creating your card.  The stamp set used for this card is BOTTLED HAPPINESS and you can also find it in the annual catalog on page 98.  This card was created by Dawn Duval who is on my team of STARS!  Thanks Dawn!

1. Cut all cardstock as stated above.

2. Stamp the largest bottle twice on a piece of Masking Paper and fussy cut along the lines of the bottle. (Color doesn’t matter).

3. Using the Lemon Lime Twist ink and the large bottle stamp, stamp the image towards the bottom left corner of the Basic White CS.

4. Using one of the Masks, remove the backing and cover the bottle with the bottle lines slightly showing. If need to trim Masking Paper to do so.

5. Once covered, stamp the next bottle in Berry Burst with the left side slightly overlapping the first bottle. Remove Mask and set aside.

6. Stamp the third bottle to the right using Azure Afternoon ink.

7. Using both Masks cover the Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst bottles. Stamp the bottle over the Lemon Lime Twist using Pumpkin Pie.

8. Using the confetti stamp from the Zany Zoo, stamp random colors towards top left and right of card top.

9. Remove Mask and discard. Stamp sentiment from the Charming Sentiments in Memento Ink on Basic White scrap. Using your Paper Snips cut each end at a slant. Set aside.

10. Cut the Azure Afternoon CS and cut the ends at a slant.

11. Adhere the Basic White Sentiment above using your adhesive.

Thank you Paper Pumpkin!

September's Paper Pumpkin box arrived in my mail box this week.  The predominate color used in the images is Lost Lagoon ~ love that color!  The kit is designed to make eight treat bags and eight small notecards.  I was in need of some thank you cards so I changed the treat bags into the cards I needed ~ love how they turned out!

Why do I need a Color Lifter?

When ordering blends it is important to add a Color Lifter to use with them.  The order number for the Color Lifter is 144608 and it is $5.00.  You can find the information on page 123 at the bottom of the page (it's hidden) in Stampin' Up!'s annual catalog.

This tool has a number of uses. When the color bleeds outside the line, you can use the color lifter to push the color back behind the lines and/or erase the color.  It works just like magic!

You can also use the color lifter to add highlights to your work if you haven't  left some white areas when you were laying down your base coat of color.

If you have a line in your work between colors, you can use the color lifter to soften and blend the line.

So, while making a purchase of your Stampin’ Blends, add a color lifter to your order so you can add a little magic to your work and make your life easier ~ less stressful too!

Festive & Fun Alternates....

This is basically the same card as the one for the Tuesday Project Sheet.  The main difference is that I used the BEARY CHRISTMAS 12" X 12" designer series paper (162015) on page 23 in the Mini Catalog for the background.

Tree Die 2
This is the TINY CHRISTMAS TREES DIE (162114) that you can find on page 13 in the Mini Catalog.  It cleanly and easily cuts the tiny trees ~ which you could save for a cute shaker card!!

IMG_0238Another alternate.  I used the die on the foil and layered it over a piece of Basic White cardstock.  Same card/different look.  Join me for a Christmas Card Class.  I have two at the end of the month and both of them support the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters here in Norfolk.  I will have all supplies for you, my donation.  You pay $30 for the class and that money is donated to CHKD.

CLASS on Thursday, September 28, from 10 AM to Noon.

CLASS on Saturday, September 30, from 10 AM to Noon.

Tuesday Project Sheet

I made this fun card last weekend using the FFESTIVE & FUN stamp set on page 13 in Stampin' Up's Mini Catalog.  I used the TINY CHRISTMAS TREES DIE and the GRANNY APPLE GREEN FOIL for the background and colored Mr. Giraffe with the blends ~ Real Red, Wild Wheat, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green.  I also added ENAMEL EFFECTS in Real Red to add a 3-D effect to the ornaments on the tree!  Print off the Project Sheet and enjoy this silly card.

Guest Artist: Janie Knarr

This gorgeous card was created by one of my stamp club friends, Janie Knarr, who brought it to me last Thursday evening.  She used the TRANSLUCENT FLORALS BUNDLE on page 56 in Stampin' Up's September Mini Catalog.

JANIE'S INSIDEThis is the inside of Janie's card ~ as pretty as the outside AND she perforated the piece on the right hand side so that it can easily be 'torn' off and used as a bookmark!  You can find the clever tool that she used to do that on page 145 in the annual catalog.  It is number 9 on that page ~ TAKE YOUR PICK CRAFTER TIPS and includes a hobby blade, pick tip and rotary perforating tip!  Thank you so much for sharing Janie ~ love the details and colors of your card!
