CARDS 3

I may have missed some cards and I apologize if I have left some out.  I did use some creative Christmas cards when I was wrapping gifts for my family (you can see those cards HERE).  And, I received other cards from wonderful friends but I wanted to feature the handmade cards on the blog. Thank you each and every one ~ it's been a wonderful Christmas.

New Year's Cards

The first card uses the Warm Welcome Bundle from yesterdays post.  Because the dies contain a set of numbers it is easy to do any year/any date!

Warm Welcome New Years Card

The second new year card is one I made to send.  I used the greeting from BRIGHTEST GLOW and the foliage from MERRIEST MOMENTS, both in the current mini catalog.

New year 2

To make this card you mask the center of the basic white cardstock (2 1/2" x 4") and stamp the pine leaves over the mask.  I used Shaded Spruce and Old Olive.  Remove the mask and stamp the sentiment (Garden Green).  Before I adhered the basic white to the DSP, I drew the lines above and below the sentiment using my ruler and my Garden Green marker.  Do you have a new year card you would like to share ~ send it to me and I will send you one of mine!

There is a lot to like about this collection of stamps and dies, the Beautiful Boughs of Holly Suite on page 24 and 25 in the current (through the end of the month) mini catalog.  I particularly like the use of the die with the two holly leaves on the side.  Enjoy these packages and cards and your Christmas Eve.  Wishing you lots of love, joy and happiness.  Susan Elise

A Holiday Thank You Card

Snowflake Card Front

Something I try to do when making Thank You Cards for the winter holidays is to use more of a winter theme than a holiday theme. By the time we send out Thank You Cards, most of us are a bit weary of traditional holiday themes. But winter is still around, so why not celebrate one of the prettiest winter themes – snow!

Stampin’ Up! has made it easy for us to create cards with a snow theme this year with their Joyful Flurry Bundle, including the Joyful Flurry Stamp Set and the Frosted Flurry Dies. Add in the Snowflake folder in the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder set, and you can almost feel the snowflakes in today’s card.

Snowflake Embossing Folder InkedFor the center strip in this card, I tapped my Starry Night ink pad all over one side of the inside of the embossing folder (the side with the Stampin' Up! logo on the outside).  The indentations do not pick up the ink.  Place your cardstock inside the folder on the side that is not inked up, close the folder.  Run it through the embossing machine then carefully open the folder and slide the cardstock out.  To clean the folder, run it under a faucet until there is no more ink.

Here's the sketch for this card.  While the inked center strip is shown as 2 3/4" x 5 1/2", the piece of cardstock that I inked was larger (3 1/4" x 6").  I trimmed it down afterwards to the final size.

Snowflake SketchFor the inside of the card, stamp a vertical line of small snowflakes from the Joyful Flurry stamp set along the right side of the 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Basic White.  Enjoy cardmaking and stay warm!  Hugs, se
